I’m beyond happy to have met @takethat legends @markowenofficial and @howarddonald tonight! When you’re 21 and you’ve been a fan for 8 years, that feels like a lifetime. Their lyrics, music and melodies have been the soundtrack to so much of my life. You can find something for every thought and feeling in at least one TT track. Happy birthday @markowenofficial! Through The Viewfinder – 005 Welcome back to my weekly series, where I dive into an old photo and share the story, memory, or creative spark behind it! This week’s shot features John Power of Cast, taken at their electric homecoming gig in Liverpool, 2024. With John and Cast’s new album, “Yeah Yeah Yeah”, dropping this Friday, it feels like the perfect moment to shine a light on this one, so don’t forget to pre-save or grab a copy! This photo marks my very first Cast show, and what an introduction it was. Ocean Colour Scene headlined that night, but by the time Cast finished their set, I’d completely forgotten who was up next. John’s energy on stage was truly something else, leaping and spinning while leading the crowd in a chorus that felt unifying and explosive all at once. I can still remember being floored by the emotional force of “Walkaway.” I’ve always loved music for its lyrics, poetry that puts words to feelings you can’t describe, and John is a master of that craft. Since then, I’ve fallen for Cast’s whole discography; “Love is the Call” is an all-time favourite, and if “Yeah Yeah Yeah” is even half as good an album, they’ve hit gold. Photos from this show and others now feature on Cast’s website, which is surreal to see. The band’s high-octane performances and the emotion they pour into every show left no doubt in my mind why they supported Oasis last summer, a global event that brought much-needed joy to so many. John Power has always been incredibly supportive and down-to-earth, even treating me to a Guinness at The Water Rats, which is a story in itself! Not many can say that. So here’s to John and the entire Cast crew, good luck with the new record this Friday (not that you’ll need it)! I also met @seancreation & @chris_pattemore at this show 🤘
